Danny O'Donnell

Danny has over 12 years experience in the sports and outdoor recreation sectors and has held senior positions in a number of New Zealand industry organisations. He has come to specialise in sports and event facility planning, facility development, regional sport and recreation strategic planning, project development, open space planning, consultation and facility management.

Richard Lindsay

Richard Lindsay has joined Visitor Solutions as a Senior Consultant in Christchurch. With over twenty years' experience Richard brings a wealth of knowledge across the non-for-profit, local and central government, recreation and sport sectors.

Most recently Richard was at Sport New Zealand where he was the inaugural Manager of Facilities and proved pivotal in turning Sport NZ into the leadership voice and one-stop-shop for facility planning and development.

Shane has over twenty years’ experience at senior executive and senior management levels in the event, sport, tourism and business sectors in Australia. Shane’s positions have included Executive Director Tourism, Events and Sport for the Australian Capital Territory and Chief Executive Officer of the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games Organising Committee (SWMGOC). Shane’s experience in senior roles has featured leadership in economic development and the creation of social and economic benefits. Shane prides himself on planning, developing and implementing practical effective business solutions.

Brenda Perry

Brenda has over 30 years’ experience in professional sport both in NZ and on all five continents. A former tennis professional and NZ representative, she subsequently held various international roles on the WTA TOUR as an Events Director, Operations Director and as a Board Representative for the world’s Top 100 Players. Other international roles have included tennis roles at the four Grand Slams and at Olympic Games in Atlanta, Sydney and London. She is a former Tournament Director of ASB Classic - one of NZ’s longest running major annual professional sporting events. Brenda has also worked on behalf of sponsors and been a television and radio commentator in NZ.

Richard Griffiths

Richard has over 10 years’ experience working in a range of different roles in market research, the academic sector and not-for-profit environment. He has developed significant skills in project management, conducting workshops, focus groups and one-on-one interviews, online survey design, environmental scans, event ethnography and community-based evaluation. Richard has wide ranging interests which include community development, youth culture, health and wellbeing, sport and cultural heritage.

Alison has worked in the tertiary education sector lecturing in business studies and management for many years, and has contributed to this sector by liaising with Government agencies regarding delivery of tertiary level qualifications to international students.
She utilises her considerable research, managerial, academic and organisational skills working with not-for-profit groups in the performing arts, community and philanthropic arenas. Alison also actively participates on school boards and committees.

Stephen is a founding member of Visitor Solutions and has worked in the tourism and recreation sectors for over 25 years. He has written 38 books and 100 journal articles on tourism and leisure. His consultancy experience covers all fields including research, strategic planning, crisis management and feasibility analysis and trend prediction. Stephen has worked throughout Europe, Asia and the Pacific, most recently for the United Nations World Tourism Organisation and the Organisation for Cooperation and Development. He is Professor and Deputy Dean (Research) at the School of Tourism, Bournemouth University in the UK.

Tonia joins the Visitor Solutions team, bringing with her more than 20 years architecture and urban design experience across a wide range of New Zealand and International sports, leisure, and community projects.

A former World and European Champion rower, her passion lies in providing innovative design solutions for sports, recreation and community facilities. She believes the creation of collaborative and inclusive project teams is critical to achieving a clear understanding of all project drivers, the development of a robust project brief, and the derivation of quality outcomes.
